Practical Yoga Philosophy

Asana, or yoga postures, the more physical part of the Yoga is widely extended and becoming the most popular part of the Yoga practice in the West. This is only the tip of the iceberg in the study of Yoga. In this workshop we will combine the asana (postures) practice with a few basic concepts behind the Yoga philosophy, in order to move forward and understand the connection through and from our body (microcosms) to the universe (macrocosms).

This workshop will include a practical discussion and exploration of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, combined with Asana practice from the Iyengar tradition.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are part of an old foundational scripture about the path of self-realization through Yoga. Acclaimed as one of the most profound and enlightening studies of human nature and the search for spiritual liberation.

You will leave this workshop with

  • A simple yet profound asana practices that will help you explore the Yoga Philosophy from an objective way, through your body.

  • A foundational/practical understanding of the first 16 Sutras. We will go through them as a conversation, not a lecture.

  • An enriched prospective on the goals of yoga practice.

Requirements

This workshop is for all levels of asana practice, specially if you are developing a curiosity on what is behind the asana aspect of the Yoga, if you would like to explore the deeper dimensions and a glimpse of the vast philosophical teachings that make the Yoga practice a way of life out of the mat.
